With this painting I wanted to test myself and my technical ability. ‘Storm’ was painted over the course of a year, during which time I became obsessed with how clouds reflect and play with sunlight, especially during sunset. The colours in my clouds are wildly exaggerated, but they’re based on principles of how light behaves, travelling through and refracting inside the floating body of water.
There is a sense of peace watching a storm from a distance, being able to see the power and chaos from a position of calmness. That is what I hope to have captured.
