Michael James Toomy is a Pop Artist from Londonderry in America. Michael is a professional artist who has based his works on pop, edgy paintings and also photographic adjustments to some world famous celebrities. Some work of his has been on common favourite celebrities like Elvis Pressley, Jimi Hendrix, Grace Kelly and one of the most is pop artworks and images on Marilyn Monroe. Michael is involved in a wide range of artistic activities. Toomy has been painting & drawing since he was a child, but has received little professional artistic schooling, with the exception of some Saturday classes at the MFA Boston & continuing art education classes over the years. His Londonderry Fine Art is a place where the public can go onto his site and look through all the different types of designs Michael does. Mostly all of Michaels works are one on one full headshots of the stars. The majority of them are in the black, white and grey shades, which make them look like they’re from older decades and make them look more professional and modern. He changes the contrast of the images to make their faces look like pop artworks instead of photographs, so you can tell they have been created and designed by him.
I found that Michaels image of Grace Kelly was one that stood out towards me. One of the main reasons I like the piece is the way he has used the black, white and grey shades to alter the image and capture her distinguished facial features and her elegance. The darker blacks outline her white face. He face is large and covers the width and length of the canvas, from corner to corner. Her face is so perfect and he beauty just captures the viewer. He really does capture the beauty & grace, of Grace Kelly.
Michael uses RedBubble successfully to promote his varies artworks including calendars, clothing and art pieces. His clothing line is based on rights, voting and women.
