Ink on paper, 2010.
5″ × 10″
This piece began to take on a sense of identity when it reminded me of Dr. Seuss, and how much of an impact he had on me from when I was a child.
It is called The Gem Mine as a tribute to a painting in his “Secret Art” called Minor-Cat Miner In A High Yield Emerald Mine.
To further the tribute, I made a companion piece, Minor Cat Miner which is designed as a zoom-in of The Gem Mine, showing the Minor Cat Miner at work within one of the mine’s tunnels/veins.
