This geared up photog was shooting on assignment at the Yavapai Mile AMA Grand National flat track race in Prescott, Arizona. In addition to the two cameras at his sides there was another stashed in the pouch around his waist. All the bodies were Canon 1D mark IV and the lenses…well there’s a 600mm, a 300mm, and I believe a 70-200mm on the pouched camera. So much gear for just one person…but wouldn’t it be nice?
Taken with a Canon 7D using a Canon 300mmL lens and Canon 1.4x II extender.
Many congrats on your feature Craig. Thats an awesome load he is carrying. What is the lens on the camera on his left shoulder? Is that what would be deemed a telephoto zoom lens? ( I am learning and a novice)
Thank you Glynn, he has his hands full for sure. The lens on the left is a Canon 600mm Telephoto F/4.0L. It is not a zoom lens but a “prime” lens, meaning it has a fixed focal length. The prime lenses give an extremely sharp image and great depth of field.
see i really dislike equipment bias photography like this (his not yours) its basically the better lens you have the better photos you take, much less skill required compared to other fields of photography…
In this case I agree because this photographer was taking tons of pictures shooting on high speed with all three cameras. A really good photo is still distinguishable from a mediocre photo regardless of the arena you’re shooting in or the equipment you shoot with.
