The shot of this green tree python was taken while I was traveling in Queensland, Australia. It is, by far, the most stunning snake I have ever seen. I was not only drawn to the intense lime and aqua hues of this reptile but also to the ingenious way it coils itself around a branch, saddle-style with its head perfectly placed in the center. I really appreciated it creating such harmonious composition for me!
No, but I am more than happy for it to stay in Queensland.
Don’t worry. I don’t think they’re native to Australia. I believe this one was just visiting. Beautiful specimen, though- no matter how one feels about snakes.
My husband tells me it is native to Australia (Cape York Peninsula) and PNG. It is a Green Tree Python (Morelia Viridis). And no, my husband is not a herpetologist, but has encountered a lot of snakes(human) at work.
I believe you are right, Roslyn. Thank you for the edification. I was confusing it with the green tree pit viper which is mostly in parts of Asia. Too bad about your husband’s colleagues. If they looked like this creature, it might at least be a little more enticing to go to work!
Wonderful capture… love the composition. Great work
Thank you, Shelley! I almost feel guilty for taking credit for this photo. As I mentioned in my blurb above, I really feel the snake created the composition for me! Mother Nature already knows what’s most appealing to the eye, I suppose!

The snake looks so comfortable. Great capture.
Thanks for looking, Roslyn. I actually took this photo while I was traveling in Queensland. Does it look familiar to you?
