‘Ganguro Gal’ by F.M.Gore-Kelly : 2008

This was totally inspired by the Fashion tread that hit around 1999 in Japan.

Japanese girls who followed this tread would go for extreme tans. Dye their hair lighter (light brown, orange, blonde and some to silver gray) and would wear extreme white eye-shadow and eye-liner and wear white lipstick. They also wear alot of bright colours and have hibiscus accessories.

So people say that the girls that followed this treads wanted to look like African American woman that they were inspired by.
But from the photos I have seen, for me they look more like surfer girls
(with the white eye shadow making them look like surfer girls from their sunglasses non tan marks).
