The name’s Flyrod. American car culture is my thing. If it rolls, roars, or rumbles I’m into it. Statistics and facts aren’t my gig. My mission is to track down and capture the infamous rides that make up pop culture, and to tell their stories.
Pump Boys to MenA drive-by poem
With dirty fingernails and uncombed oily hairThey kept that station humming and each did their share
They’ll give you water, air and oil and a topped off tankIf you need a little greasing then you better ask for Hank
If you’ve got some worn tires on that big Mack truckWhen the rubber’s getting thin you better ask for Chuck
When you’re cranking that engine and it just won’t startIf you need new plugs then you better ask for Bart
Hank’s mother died when he was only threeEverybody wondered what he’d turn out to be
Chuck grew up in Texas and his folks were mighty poor.He did a year in jail when he robbed a grocery store
Bart worked the farm milking cows and making hayBut his Daddy was a drunk and he had to get away.
They learned their lessons from The School of Hard KnocksLiving on the streets and wondering at the docks
They learned how to write and they barely could readA hammer and a crescent wrench were all the tools they’d need.
The troubles of your youth and all the world’s demandsAre swept to the side when you’re working with your hands
Exceptional piece of work!!
