The name’s Flyrod. American car culture is my thing. If it rolls, roars, or rumbles I’m into it. Statistics and facts aren’t my gig. My mission is to track down and capture the infamous rides that make up pop culture, and to tell their stories.
Rotgut Johnnya drive-by poem
Johnny Long was the black sheep of his clanThat foul smelling teamster was a very weak man
Some say that Johnny was whiskey bentHis mind was impaired and filled with torment
He got away with murder because his daddy was richThat Bull Dog Driver was a son-of-a-bitch
Johnny’s old man had the law in his pocketSo he never got on a courtroom docket
A Chevy sedan was cresting a hillWhen Rotgut Johnny got his first kill
The Police report said he crossed the white lineBut Johnny was cleared without even a fine
A couple of lovers were parked in the nightWhen his big truck hit them with all of its might
That diesel was loaded and so was the driverWhen dust finally settled there’d be so survivor
The newspaper headlines screamed with excitementThe public demanded they bring an indictment
Then Johnny crashed into the mill town gateFour workers died when they met their fate
As that staggering driver was stinking of liquorThe old Grim Reaper never came quicker
For this time old Johnny ran out of luckHe was tossed in the path of an oncoming truck
He died in a flash like a bug on a windshieldWhen a big cement truck didn’t bother to yield
Brillant poem and visually stunning image Flyrod.
