The name’s Flyrod. American car culture is my thing. If it rolls, roars, or rumbles I’m into it. Statistics and facts aren’t my gig. My mission is to track down and capture the infamous rides that make up pop culture, and to tell their stories.
Blue Moon for ChuckyA drive-by poem by Flyrod
I happened seven times in nineteen yearsWhen a Blue Moon night heightens the fears
When the darkness is split by rumbling soundsAs a thirty two Ford is making his rounds
In search of the lost who might need a rideTo fill up that seat on the passenger side
A teen on the run or a down and out drifterWho’d be the one crowding that shifter?
From a highway ramp a man came into viewThe shadowed Ford Driver thought, “this one will do”
As the rider got in and eased back the seatA cold chill was felt from his head to his feet
“Thanks for the lift”, he said, “My name is Chuck.”“I guess I’ve walked miles without any luck.”
He heard the door lock as the Ford pulled awayThe driver said, “Boy, this ain’t your day”
Twenty, then fifty, now eighty miles an hourThat open wheeled monster was showing his power
The driver said, “This is the shuttle to Hell”“It’ll do you no good to scream or to yell”
A Freighliner hit you, and now your expired.”
Wow, really like this one Fly, works really well in the night glow, fave…
