Every Parent’s Nightmare a drive by poem by Flyrod
They were self-made widows at age twenty-two
Debbie shot Johnny, and Sandra stabbed Hugh
They both had it coming, they were no good men
Two girls locked-up in the New York State pen
They cooked up a scheme for a big jail break
Both were doing life so their wasn’t much at stake
A gun and a knife that were baked in a cake
And a bribe to a guard who was always on the take
Helped them bust out and make their getaway
Women on the loose, it was a brand new day
They stole a new Chevy, a blue fifty-eight
They couldn’t get along, it was an endless debate
Who would get to drive and who would read the map
It didn’t take much for either one to snap
Every little thing started a new fight
The screaming didn’t stop til way into the night
Debbie threw a punch and the big brawl started
Well before they got their escape route charted
The big chevy swerved and the tires did squeal
No big surprise, there was no one at the wheel
They went through a guard rail doing eight-five
A hundred foot drop that no one could survive
A terrible explosion and a big fire ball
Is this how it ends in this feminine brawl?
The alarm clock rings and you jump out of bed
It was just a bad dream it was all in your head
Now you realize that today’s the big day
Your girls turn sixteen and oh by the way
Every parent worries how their kids will turn out
It drives them crazy and makes them want to shout
Sometimes you wonder if their kids will survive
That milestone birthday and a license to drive.
This car was photographed at a car show in Gulford, Connecticut.

The name’s Flyrod. American car culture is my thing. If it rolls, roars, or rumbles I’m into it. Statistics and facts aren’t my gig. My mission is to track down and capture the infamous rides that make up pop culture, and to tell their stories.
