Lusty DeVille a drive by poem by Flyrod

They call her “Lusty”, the car’s called DeVille
Their mission in life is the give men a thrill

When this pair of beauties is hot on their trail
The strongest man will grow weak and be frail

The maintenance is high on either count
But those weak men will pay any amount

One form of lust is a powerful machine
The other’s a woman who’s born to be mean

A smooth riding Caddy with crushed velvet seats
Has a lure of status for those male elites

So too the woman with those physical charms
They reach peak performance when a man’s in their arms

A man thinks this is how a millionaire feels
A ride so smooth, an affair on four wheels

When he’s at the clubs with his bombshell blonde
The fact he’s a sucker, hasn’t yet dawned

What trait does this action packed duo share
When the soul of a man enters their lair?

A man and his money surely will part
When hot cars and women conquer his heart

To manipulative women I offer this word
Don’t think that man is just some foolish nerd

One other trait you shares with the car
Your hold on a man goes only so far

When mileage is high and rear ends waddle
Those men trade you in for a newer model

I photographed this 1954 Cadillac Deville at a car show in Great Barrington Massachusetts. The corset is clip art. The pattern behind the car is an engine blueprint. The woman is from the cover of a 1950’s dime novel called “Women From Hell”.

The name’s Flyrod. American car culture is my thing. If it rolls, roars, or rumbles I’m into it. Statistics and facts aren’t my gig. My mission is to track down and capture the infamous rides that make up pop culture, and to tell their stories.
