DRILL BABY DRILL a drive-by poem by Flyrod

Down in West Texas on a dry dusty road
Drill baby drill was the oil mans code

He was hauling spare parts and a pair of new bits
Drill baby drill…they were giving him fits

In a Chevy panel truck that was painted bright red
Drill Baby drill…everybody called him Ted

He knew every dirt road on the Texas plain
Drill baby drill…he was king of his domain

The Texaco Company was his employer
Drill baby drill…he was the dirt road warrior

He had to get to Lubbock by the end of the day
Drill baby drill…to meet his girl named Fay

Outside of town he would make another stop
Drill baby drill…he was thirsty for a pop

When he got to Fay’s the truck was kind of dirty
Drill baby drill…she was acting kind of flirty

He smelled like gas and his clothes were soiled
Drill baby drill…he was thoroughly oiled

He hopped in the shower and got hosed down
Drill baby drill…now it’s time to go to town

The couple went to dinner at the Galaxy Diner
Drill baby drill…for a burger and a Shiner

That bottle of beer got her loosened up
Drill baby drill…she was frisky as a pup

They went back home and they started making out
Drill baby drill…that’s what it was all about

When he asked her what to do, this is what she said
“Drill baby drill!”…Then she threw him on the bed

The name’s Flyrod. American car culture is my thing. If it rolls, roars, or rumbles I’m into it. Statistics and facts aren’t my gig. My mission is to track down and capture the infamous rides that make up pop culture, and to tell their stories.
