The name’s Flyrod. American car culture is my thing. If it rolls, roars, or rumbles I’m into it. Statistics and facts aren’t my gig. My mission is to track down and capture the infamous rides that make up pop culture, and to tell their stories.
The urban landscape was crawling with scumAnd terrorized people were feeling numb
With corrupt politicians and cops on the takeThe fate of the system was surely at stake
On a hot summer night the tide started to turnAs a city on edge was feeling the burn
The goons and the thugs were turning up deadWith and upside-down cross stamped on their head
A tattered sedan came into viewAn old Hupp Skylark faded and blue
As the suicide door swung open wideA tall dark figure immerged from inside
He wore a long trench coat and a flat brimmed hatHe had wavy black hair and eyes like a cat
Conventional wisdom says justice is blindBut he found the guilty my reading their mind
He struck down evil with fists made of fireFor low-life’s and crooks the future was dire
Judge and jury all rolled into oneThe dark angel warrior would get the job done
Was he real or a figment of the imagination? The cable news headlines cried with sensation
When a mind is distorted and gripped by fearsIt tends to exaggerate all that it hears
The world as a whole is peaceful you seeBut you’ll never know it if your watching TV
Sensationalized new is getting very annoying. You sensational photo’s never are. Your the man flyrod.
Thanks so much Paul. Sorry you couldn’t make it to Rhinebeck. Probably the best show I’ve been to so far. I want both days. 600 modifieds on Saturday and 800 antique classics on Sunday. I’ve always wanted to shoot a 57 Cadillac Eldorado and I got 2 of them on Sunday. We’ll try for another show…maybe Syracuse?
Wow, great mood in this. Love the dark areas and those headlights.
Thanks so much. I appreciated the comment Dot.
I agree you’re the man – nothing compares with your fabulous images and “matching” poems. Another winner!
Thanks so much. I appreciated the comment Monnie.
Excellent! haven’t seen one of these in many moons. The story brought to mind Michael Jackson’s thriller…couldn’t get the melody out of my head while reading this! LOL Great work!
Thanks my friend. I see what you mean by the MJ comment, but that wasn’t my intent. I was thinking more Sin City. By the way, I noticed you sell on Fine Art America. How do you like that site? Is it worthwhile?
Love the moody image and your usual poetic prowess.
Thanks so much. I appreciated the comment Nigel
