A great photo. A small glimpse into the harsh times the farmers and their stock are facing with the drought :(

  • Paul Grinzi replied

Thanks for commenting! The farmer noticed me with my camera and invited me onto his farm to shoot the drought – it was SO dry and dusty!

amazing shot! when was this taken? it certainly is desolate and dry – poor buggers! at least they are being fed, aye? not a blade of grass anywhere!

  • Paul Grinzi replied

Vicki, it was taken in April 07 – but having returned to this area last winter (08), it didn’t look any better!

have you had much rain down there now? it is a pity we can’t send some of the rain from up here down to you! (not that i am complaining, by the way! i would never do that!) apparently central new south wales is very very dry also – though you hear varying reports – some say they have had a good season. patchy weather obviously. a pity that the rain isn’t shared equally – no floods, no drought! but then, that is australia!! love the place!

  • Paul Grinzi replied

He have had a cool December and some welcome rain – BUT the dryness of the land has meant it has soaked up the rain and not created much runoff in the catchments – need more rain still, but there’s some green about, which is fantastic. Watch out bushfire season in 1-2 months!
If the weather in Oz was uniformly equal, we’d be much worse off – no reason to explore and travel around!

Touching image – it says so much about the poor weather situation across much of Australia at the moment.

  • Paul Grinzi replied

Thanks Stephen – yes, it’s so hot and dry. The dust gets up your nose and stays there.
