Wow-this is fabulous art-work Martin the fountain of youth searched for by everyone on this planet mostly to preserve our vanity when we look in the mirror but of course it it not age creeping up on the outside it is the mind we need to be concerned about these days as people live longer…..
Martin Derksema replied
We have to keep making art untill our last breath; that will keep the good old spirit young.

Your art is really the great food for thinking. There is the inner world and the environment. Both should have some quality hospitable to the fountain of youth: truth, good, beauty. But the environment is not always so favourable. So we have to rely more on the innate, and life becomes a long struggle to retain our best quality. For me, those who know what is truth, what is good, and what is beauty, are people possess heavenly innocence. So you have your innocence.

hi martin, the title is tony bennett’ ’’an american class celebrates 80’”’ it was sent to me by a lady who collects my art from ,brooklyn, n.y. i have known her 20 years she sends me music and i send her art or ceramics, nice lady who was orriginally from france,

Martin, we are all only as young as we feel and a rejuvenated youth, I believe, is within us all well hidden under the scars of living, many times. The bright colors here reflect optimism and hope, we must look deep with in to find the innocence of youth, which only the individual can find. Good luck!
Martin Derksema replied
Thanks for your beautiful comment, Hugo. I’ll keep searching ha ha.

I had (probably still have) a little black and white filmstrip, which I could show to friends in my street, on my very basic little projector, one frame at the time. It was about the search for the fountain of youth.
Thanks for reviving that memory.
Being with kids all day, while working kept me young. Not so sure if I’d want back the youth along with the innocence and lack of knowledge. There were also so many awkward moments.
Thanks again for making me think.
Martin Derksema replied
I am glad this triggered your thoughts. With innocence I mean the lack of prejudice young children have. It has to do with the desire to empty my mind of thoughts, patterns and ideas that don’t serve me.

another thought-provoking image Martin – i don’t think i have ever looked at an image for so long on RB – so much depth and emotion – into free fall – nothing guiding you – i like that a lot :) Wonderful work as always.

I love the suggestion of innocence in this work, FB, which feels so purifying in your composition, as a fountain would be, and a fountain made from youth would be even more. I always get the sense that you absolutely go for it with your compositions, and there is nothing more youthful and pure than that!
Jeff Burns

Dearest Martin! How are you? I’m afraid I’ve been away from the networks recently and having little rest from them all. We had a lovely break in Paris and now it’s back to work refreshed. I love this image because it reminds me of a dream my husband had recently. The images falling suggest a certain insecurity (from which we all suffer at some level or other!) Grerat feeling of the surreal. Brilliant artwork!
Martin Derksema replied
Thanks for your beautiful comment. You are so right about the insecurity. Glad you had a good trip to Paris and feel refreshed.
