The Hanged Man

‘The subconcious always strives to create an impossible situation to force the individual to give the best he or she has got. Otherwise you would be satisfied with less, you wouldn’t be complete, you wouldn’t realize yourself. You need an impossible situation, in which you have to hand over your own will and your own intellectual capacity and have no choise but trust in the impersonal force of growth and development.’

C.G. Jung

another amazing image Martin – had to come back to it – that feeling of not being in control – just can’t do that :) It’s not that i am a control freak, far from it but i get scared to just let go sometimes – one question, what is the significance of the purple? (Sorry for the ignorance) Great, thought provoking image again Martin :)

    Le Pendu!
This is a powerful and profound statement on the machinations of the subconscious mind. Choices and challenges are set before us every day of our lives. Perhaps it’s time to put fear and apprehension behind us and sieze the moment!!! Fabulous image!

    very strong image flyboy
have examined this closely and know that this is very complex/not sure about religion anymore/but know that each day must be purposeful and that fortunately with age we do have control over our lives to a certain extent.

    this is brilliant/jung is brilliant

yesterday i looked at it and thought about it. today i look at it and still think about it. one thing seems clear, the image is about some situation we have to face, if we wanted to live a truer life. love work of this level.

I am so very happy with all the thoughtfull comments, coming from all of you. I have no fast and large production and it takes weeks for a concept to develop. Last months I dive rather deep into the good old soul to try and tell things that are significant to me. That is why it is so great to see that all of you take time to think about it and notice things. Many, many thanks.

your art and thougths are no cream puffs, you make us come along with you and look at our selfs and say, am i missing, not going on my inward adventure with flyboy, and we join you, in our own, openning of place we, did not want or dare to go, keep up the art at any pace,as long as it suits you and feeds your spirit pax

interesting image, Flyboy, and very personal to your life I’m sure. The background is intriguing, as is the fact that the person is hanged upside down, like John the Baptist? The limited color adds to the intrigue, lovely!!!

I have always found Jung fascinating. As a Christian, I find this image disturbing, but I think I see what you are saying. Sorry to disagree with Hugo (no offence intended Hugo) but John the Baptist was beheaded … Peter was crucified upside down at his own request , because he didn’t feel worthy to share the same execution as Christ.

The destruction of self or situation brings life to humanity. Sacrifice, empathy, and “letting go” gives perspective and makes life scared. Momentary loss for the greater gain… of self, society, and spirit.
