Who am I? Why I am here? What is human consciousness? The deepest questions. Who can answer? It’s the fundamental searching by mankind, the eternity. It an irony that the creator seems don’t want us to know. So we limit ourselves in the wandering through the labyrinths of life.

You created me with restrains, by giving me life only added my confusion. – Khayaam

Anyway we have to find out the beautiful reasons of living.

One of the best work I have ever seen. It’s philosophy in art or art in philosophy. What more is human beings capable?

Martin, this is fantastic! So many interpretations can be applied to this work, but for me it seems like the adult (you) being represented by the child (you again), looking at himself in the mirror and trying to see who he really is. Or perhaps wishing as a child that the mirror could show you the future. The woman (I assume this is your mother) is smiling, and if one concentrates on just that, all seems to be fine. But somehow the image as a whole really scratches at my insides, like a dark and sinister secret.

  • Martin Derksema

    Martin Derksema, 3 months ago

Thanks a million, Elaine, for all your beautiful comments. Means a lot coming from you. Love your analysis. Yeah, me trying to figure out who the hell I really am. And, yeah, there is a lot of trouble in paradise. Sinister indeed.
