the book of life is endless, until the final chapter is written, and put away, most of us, will go unknown, but to our special friends and light pals after three days, we start to fade in others minds as they go on with thier living life, so take time to add to your book, and write love stores ina sometime loveless world of,things and stuff, always remembering, that love of life is love of living being, not inert dust, lovely sentamantal photo of a angel, about to enter the world, and his, life,s knocks and a few? hugs along the way, our child is always there, beneith the scars and toil of life,s disapointments, if we over come us, we over come the world and win our own peace of mind and heart, and still look out and see hope,

Like the theme, Martin. It strikes me how often I refer to Alleen op de Wereld (about the boy, Remi, travelling through France) Piggelmee (who made it to the moon) when communicating with Dutch people. And still books have such an impact, I just thoroughly enjoyed reading Het Blauw van Rembrandt.
Now your research into the Australian Chapter of the book of your life is well under way.
One of the smartlappen I very happily sing along with, while driving from Revesby to Fairlight, or elsewhere, is When you and I were young, Maggie.
I love the line: Your (My) face is a well-written page, Maggie, But time alone was the pen. ...

    Great title and great work.

Life’s situation is always complicated and sometimes confused. The background or “settings” of the picture well illustrates this “wheels within wheels” character of life’s circumstances.

Among the kaleidoscope of life there are two sober images: a child and a man. The more tangible image of the child is the symbol of the unchanging innocence we are blessed by nature. And the blurred image of the man is the symbol of our potential for ever growing intelligence also blessed by nature. We are the combination of the two qualities. As a man is growing, the child’s innocence remains in his heart, so he can have inner peace, can feel and see with love and respect for nature and people.

Possessing these two qualities is an ideal existence. They give people the spiritual tranquility they need. The “man” is more spiritual in though, the “child” is more spiritual in innocence. We are truly blessed, thus we should be grateful. We live, reading the book of life, thinking about the meaning of what we read.

The picture is very philosophical and poetic.

Hello Martin! How are you? This is a wonderfully poignant and profound piece of work. So familiar too. Like Vlad says, we carry our child with us until the end. It’s always there until we start again. Very cleverly and sensitively realised.

(sorry to have been so slow with thecomments but I’m busy working on a painting at the moment and it’s taking up a lot of my time. Cheers from Rusty!)

very beautiful and very powerful image – love the detail and the madness surrrounding the little boy – looking so calm amidst the madness – the book is a really potent symbol – it is where i often hide when life becomes too much for me.

    An astounding image!

That little boy was/is me, and the seemingly chaotic world around me, as I try to make sense of the madness, through the tiny window of logic on those pages…....

Art which scores a direct hit. difficult to achieve, but you’ve done it, here.

  • BLYTHART

This will obviously mean different things to different people. While we are children, the world of chaos continues unabated all around us, while we are cocooned in a protective bubble of cosiness and security (or should be). You’ve done a great job here, Martin
