Oil Kills T-Shirt

Frank Stillitano

Oil Kills

Our society’s addiction to oil and oil based products is threatening the human race. Corporate greed is compromising human rights and the environment through pollution and global warming. Things must change before it’s too late.

This t-shirt is designed to quickly communicate the relationship between oil consumption and human suffering. The image of a hand gun and the use of the colour red represents blood and human suffering (so I would recommend a red t-shirt, but it still works on other colours). The fuel pump nozzle and use of black represents oil and petrol consumption. The link between the two items is the ‘trigger’, each of which is designed to be levered by the human finger.

The ‘Oil Kills’ global message defies language barriers; selling to buyers in USA, UK, Canada, Europe and Australia.

Oil Kills belongs to the following groups:

  • Frank Stillitano replied

Yes you are right Giannis, I did a lot of research into the oil industry for this project and what I learned had a huge impact on me–it almost made me sick. When I realised this design was so effective in communicating my thoughts and feelings, it became my favourite.

Frank this is one of the greatest designs! amazingly simple, but oh so clever

  • Frank Stillitano replied

Hahaha, I dunno about ‘one of the greatest’, but it sure does hit a chord with a few people and I’m so glad it does. If it helps get one person out of their car and on a bus or bicycle just once, it’s done it’s job.

  • GrumpyDog

    Nice design.

Hey that brings up a question. What are inks made out of for the printing?

I know when I rip open a bag of a freshly printed tee, there is a very strong chemical smell.

  • Frank Stillitano replied 16 days ago

Good point…don’t forget the bag itself and the entire transportation process is fueled by the evil liquid too. Hard to shake any addiction, isn’t it? Gotta start somewhere though…

  • GrumpyDog

    GrumpyDog 16 days ago

Yes, you’re right about shaking off addiction, we couldn’t make, sell, and deliver shirts without oil. It’s a Catch 22.

I wonder if Redbubble will offer an eco-friendly process in the future? I can’t find any information on the inks they use, I am assuming it is the typical petroleum based ink jet textile inks, at least it smells that way.
