Ferocactus wisliezenii - Fishhook Barrel Cactus Flower by

The Fishhook Barrel Cactus is the largest cacti in Arizona.
There are up to 25 vertical ribs. Flowers on old grow are up to 3 inches wide and grow in a ring around the top.
Fruits from the flower can be eaten.. They are easily grown from seeds.
They are a Amonopodial stim succulent. They are one of the most successful and characteristic life forms of the Sonoran desert.

They have a massive yet shallow root system. They have a vault-like water storing body with the greatest volume to surface ratio possible.

A four year old barrel can be only 3 inches high and 2.5 inches wide. They can live up to 130 years

I became interested in photography at an early age, focusing mostly on Macro images. Later, I expanded to a wider range of subjects after discovering the wonderful photographers on Redbubble.

I have been inspired by many excellent photographers here on Redbubble, and have found myself broadening my range in subjects. I do love Macro work, for it brings the small delicate details out in an image. Nature has become even more interesting when viewing it up close.
