Shining road

The city of Norwich in the U.K. has been a city since around the year 1194, and already existed as a town before then. Even though Norwich is now a modern city, it still contains the evidence of its long history in its architecture and other features, such as these cobblestones, which have been preserved in an area of the city known as Pottergate.

Taken with a Canon EOS 450D.

Gorgeous Ursula…..love the B&W here. I really like the pattern of the cobbles – how they radiate out…yet the gaps stop your eyes as they move around the shot. You can sense the worn down cobbles too. Marvellous.

  • Ursula Rodgers replied

Thanks so much for your wonderful comments Wendi! Would you believe this was shot in colour? We did have sun briefly, but the clouds were coming in fast!

A delightful play of light and shadows on that old cobbled street, the frame-filling composition works perfectly, well captured,

The cold dark stone is tread upon
By feet to come and feet long gone
With faith they take you to and fro
With lack you’d know not where to go
The pounding rain and sun’s bright rays
Through the shade of nights and heat of days
Ever will they lead you home
Wondering why you chose to roam

  • Ursula Rodgers replied

Thankyou Dalton. Those words are most apt. Thankyou very much again :)
