  • Ursula Rodgers replied

Thanks so much JK! I am not very confident when it comes to photographing people, but this woman’s body language moved me so much I felt I had to capture it.

Ursula, I’m enjoying the whole Greek trip set (well, I would…) but this is a very special picture. You have managed to capture all the emotion of the resigned poverty that is, unfortunately, a very familiar site to those who live there. On top of that, it’s just a great picture with perfect composition and subtle lighting. Well done!

  • Ursula Rodgers replied

Thank you so much George. On this trip I wanted to capture all different aspects if I could…and unfortunately among all the beautiful sights there’s going to be harsh reality. I’m really glad you appreciate this!

This is fabulous. Not making her centered in the photo just adds to the sadness in it. You don’t need to worry about taking pictures of people anymore, you nailed this one. :)

  • Ursula Rodgers replied

Cheers Lynn…I am starting to appreciate the power of taking photographs of people…especially this one, because looking at it I’m strongly reminded of how lucky I am not to be in this situation!

Santorini! I love that place. But this is a sad story, although, this is a very beautiful image!

  • Ursula Rodgers replied

Thankyou Robert! Santorini is beautiful! I think that’s why I was particularly struck by this woman. She may be living in an idyllic place, but I doubt she’s living in very idyllic conditions…
