Pasha Bulker

Pasha Bulker by Naomi Frost

Pasha Bulker

The Pasha Bulker ran aground at Nobby’s Beach, Newcastle, NSW, Australia on the 8th June, 2007. It has had lots of media coverage. It weighs 40,000 tonnes and may be stuck there forever. Salvage crews are working to try and remove it in the next king tide. I took this photo a few days after it ran aground. It was a horrible, windy day, but as I arrived the sun seemed to peek through the storm clouds and shon upon the ship like a spotlight. I have not digitally altered this shot in any way. It is what it is. Enjoy!!

No Keegan, wasn’t on the beach. I just bent down and leant under the railing to get this perspective. Got a few stares but I think it was worrth it. I stick this image on cards and sell it at the markets – its one of my biggest sellers.

Awesome lighting & composition! Don’t you love days like these when you have your camera? The red contrast against that dark sky is fantastic. I didn’t see an image that came close to the quality of this anywhere in the media. Great capture of an historic moment in time. Well done!

Normally I’d imagine something so large and man made would spoil a coastline picture, but the vibrant colour makes the image complete. Although in saying that, one wouldn’t like to imagine it would actually be there forever…!! Great shot.

wow, how did that happen? it looks like a tidy new ship to me. Whatever, you nailed this, a beautiful shot, especially the green sea and the reflection of the tanker in the pools of water on the sand. Awesome (in England we’d have stripped this down to the bare bones in a matter of days.. Wreckers Rights!)
