A Ringtail Possum chose the fork of Melaleuca (paperbark) tree beside our back deck to spend the day, along with her baby. It reached 43 deg C that day and it’s obvious that mum Possum had enough of her baby wanting to be so close. She kept moving, to the point where the top half of her body was hanging out of the tree…and every time she inched out a bit further, the baby moved a bit too, so it was always on her tummy. We ended up spray misting them both with water. Mum seemed grateful.
