August / September 2010
Originally hand drawn on paper with fineliner ink, the design was scanned and neatened and coloured in photoshop using a wacom bamboo tablet. It has been created after a long effort spent taking the time to perfect it until I was satisfied that it was the best quality I could attain.
It speaks to me of freedom, liberty and nature. The desire to immerse oneself in nature, in the bush, is so overwhelming at times. And, at those times, all I can do is turn to art to try and express this.
The flower designs were inspired by a guide to Australian wildflowers, and I aimed to select flowers that were from the south-eastern region of Australia (like me! … Though I’m not a flower!)
As a t-shirt, I think the bright colours and unique design serve to create an item that speaks of femininity, peace, a love of nature, and a desire for beauty in the wild.
