Writing Collaboration #2: Sensory Deprivation

UPDATE

This challenge has been extended to Sunday 26th Feb, and the prize now includes a $50 RedBubble gift voucher

The Background

In December, 2008 Bellmusker announced the Seven Deadly Sins – a collaboration of writing efforts linked to a theme. It was through my participation in this that I became involved in the regular Melbourne writers’ meetup, and went for a fun night out of dinner & drinks with Bellmusker , Sheamus D , Jessica Tremp , Michael Alesich , Luckyvegetable and Yasemin Sumner
(god i hope i didn’t miss anyone)

Anyway, I can assure you, these people are fun, talented, creative and inspirational, and if you know what’s good for you, you’ll get inspired and follow the instructions below..

The Collaboration

The writing collaboration them for this month was conceived by someone, or everyone all at once, I can’t remember, but that’s not important now. What’s important is that YOU can WIN a FREE meal, shouted to you by the Melbourne Writers by simply writing the best story (as judged by us) within the theme of “sensory deprivation”. How you interpret this is open to your imagination. It must somehow be tied to the idea of the (temporary or permanent) loss or absence of one or more of the five senses.

The Rules

1) It must adhere to the theme of “Sensory Deprivation”
2) It must be 1000 words or less
3) The finished work must be tagged sensorycollab (or we won’t be able to find it!)
4) should include a link to it in this journal entry (to doubly make sure we find it)
5) It can be posted any time prior to midnight on Sunday 5th April, Melbourne time

Questions?

Have I forgotten to cover something? Do you need clarification on any points? If so just post a comment below and one of us will provide an answer.

I love the lighting in the shots, y’all could be ol’time actors. So will all of the entries be shown somewhere, that is I am a collection of the entries and not just the winning entry?

  • fleece replied

not in any formal way – they’ll all be grouped together under the tag sensorycollab and be viewable that way, much the same as the Seven sins stories are now.

everything’s in with a chance :) it’ll depend on what the judges decide, how it compares with the others, in terms of illustrating the theme, etc.
