Humbling Moment
“The Bridge Over River Kwai” This is after having walked accross it. It was so quiet, so hot and humid. I could not imagine for 1 minute what it would have been like for those poor men building it…...
I have tried to do it justice – with the tones.. I am open to suggestions (be honest please) – I want it to be “GREAT” not just average to honour them and the bridge….

Kelly…Ok…from my daze (hehe) as a photographer, I can simply say the shooting angle, depth of field and “f-stop,” composition, subject, etc. all used to make the shot in film camera (you look too young to remember film). Another key is to take lots and lots of pics of the same subject, not one or two. If you want to talk more, please feel free to email me. I like this shot cause it shows the work, but more important than the bridge over the river was the bridge they built after carving out the mountainside. Lots of men died in the building of that bridge. But to improve this shot, perhaps taking it on your knees and perhaps another from laying on the ground looking down the rails…another over the side looking at the bridge, etc…but this conveys the message nicely…hope this helps. Just a tip: wear old clothes and expect to get dirty!

I think you have done quite well with this one Kelly. I do agree a little with Ed’s comment, especially about the low angle (laying on the bridge)
Al Bourassa, about 1 month ago
This shot works!
Kelly Bermingham in reply to Ed Moore’s comment, about 1 month ago
Hi Ed, Thankyou so much for your comments I appreciate it. I took about 100 shots! (I believe that is the going rate ) LOL.. once culled I have about 30…. I have one lower down – not quite on my belly mind – but nonetheless lower :).... Dont want to bombard with too many of the same – as it is there are 4 here now of this bridge in some form… I will post them up one day – you will just have to keep looking :) LOL… Thankyou so much again… K
