Caryn

A bird of very many hues
a life that only she will choose

to love her is to watch her soar
unfettered, wings unclipped – no more.

She swoops, she glides in her own time
to try to own her would be a crime

just watch and learn and maybe love
this sparrow – robin – eagle – dove,

this peacock in all it’s magnificent glory.
She’s a happy ending to any story.

If you just watched while she soared…
her love may be your just reward

but if you cast – and reeled her in
an empty line is all you’d win.

A friend like me can watch and sigh
with pleasure – as I watch her fly.
