Here is one for my grand children! GI’s do crazy things!!!I was stationed on the island of Okinawa ‘69-’71.. A friend had brought over his Austin Healey form the US. We went on a photo shoot together to an old abandoned, Japanese airstrip. During the shoot, we heard this god awful noise, and low and behold, this US Army tank came rumbling over the hill.. The ground shook, and the sound was deafening.. we thought we were going to be in trouble… However, the tank commander wanted to know if our speedometer was working.. as, he wanted to see how fast his machine could go.. I suggested I should be dropped off at the end of the run and shoot the two crossing the finish line! This is the result. the tank was clocked at 42miles per hour.. The commander wanted to know if we could come back the next day as he knows he has one that can go faster… we never did show up….
I have had a life long interest in Photography, shooting anything that moves me… as well as interests in spirituality, new to writing, the internet, and sharing my love of beauty, as I see it. I’ve owned Pentax cameras since 1969, a die hard Pentax believer! I moved to new digs, 29 Dec 2011 Maple, Ontario; the basement of a house, can’t get any lower..a far cry from my lofty 22nd floor apt., of a few years ago! View Full Profile
