These Tantalus Sets Were Originally Made For The Homes of The Gentry During Georgian & Victorian Times. Such Elegance Was Always Found in The Homes of The Aristocratic/Bourgeoisie. These always were made with a lock and key in order that the servants did not get into the booze. If not found on the dining room sideboard, such a set would be found in the library such that the gentlemen after having fashionably dined would abode to the library for a little cognac or sherry and a good cigar as their lady counterparts would abode to the drawing room or music room to discuss perhaps embroidery or other typical lady-like things of the Victorian era.
