Artwork based on my love for the Blaxploitation film genre that emerged in the United States in the late 1960s when many exploitation films were made specifically (and perhaps exclusively) for an audience of urban black people. The word Blaxploitation is a portmanteau of the words “Black” and “exploitation.”

Although frequently criticized for stereotypical characterization and glorification of violence, Blaxploitation films anti-establishment plots were the first to exclusively star African American actors in lead roles and provided funk and soul soundtracks for the inner city.
