Gradient

You’re formulaic
Archaic
Like an artifact
Or a yearbook photo.
By the way,
The velvet
The tassels and that Midas gown
Seemed to wash you out
Without a dryer sheet.
And the static clinged
Oh, it clinged to your skin
Skin just as cold as I remember.
Indent your skin as I.
We’ll be blood sisters
In chances and occurrences.
You’ll lose your pigment
In my hands
In the current
Passively drowning
In the milky alabaster
Of that which is you
You’re picture perfect
Because you’re worth it
So let’s take it.
Take this picture
Of this as we see it
Of that as we know it
For the books
And the voyeurs
Peeping at you, Tom Cat,
Will only continue to peep
Once they’ve seen what colors
You’ve painted me.
The color of mud, splattered
Flung at my keratin
Staining the melanin
Just for a moment and
To shield my sight
I had to’ve left
I’ve left for a while
Don’t grow feral
This hissing, it’s difficult to distinguish
It’s surreal
To lose that pigment in
An almond’s blink
And I know it too much
With these arrows pointed down the road
Pointed lesser than
Pointed foreward
Pointed towards the direction
Where the fork spoons the knife
And the knaves fall to their knees
And all that was right
Was three away from a left.
In fact, you live just down the way from there.
Not too far from it
From this ocean
Of crabs and blooming water colors.
Stop putting Indie
Up against Indie;
I’ll crack that whip my friend.
Not afraid,
Not a double take
Not a negative thought in my mind
Whatsoever.
We mostly have overcast days here.
Days with milky gray
Whiskered skies
Days without the day
Days with overdrawn sighs.
Sighs like the end of a movie
One thats not truly
The end of the story
Like beginning the journey
In fifth place
In my place
Five away from yours.
Change in elevation
Fluidity of that
Liquid lacquer
Which could either be teal or
Epoxy
Filmed round your eyes
Dripping from mine.
Blood sister
My ass.
