This was shot on the same morning as a bunch of my recent shots.
The statue was erected to celebrate the 100th anniversary of life saving on North Wollongong Beach and the establishment of the surf club.
I found the silhouette irresistable with those colours in the sky.
The processing here was a little different from my usual approach. I bumped up the exposure using a curves adjustment and then boosted the heck out of the saturation to bring back the colour – the result is about what I was looking at and I’m really pleased that there’s a bit of light on the sand and grass at the base.. I also adjusted the other way a copy of the original and painted that back in using a layer mask to give definition to the highlights at the centre of the shot.. anyway – too much info ;-)
Hope you enjoy!
