Cap n’ Ball and Lucky Sumtymes, of The Mojave Muleskinners reenactment group were kind enough to let me take this shot. HDR and Photo manipulation using Three exposures +-2, then processed in Photomatix Pro3. Further adjustments using my own texture layers and assorted effects in CS3 for the final result.

I waited for this one, Fantastic rendering my friend, after seeing the original I like this one the best……..
Thank you, my friend! You know I appreciate that, and also the critique before I put this up. Those extra ‘tweaks’ you suggested worked perfectly. Thanks again!!!!

Thank you very much, Carol! I’m really glad to hear you like this series and western themes. They’re lots of fun to shoot and I really get a lot of enjoyment out of working on these types of images. I truly appreciate your comments and feedback…. Sincerely valued, my friend!

This is a very uniquely presented series…there is subtleness to the tones that at first seems to mask the details, but on closer inspection they are there and pin sharp…really like your choices for composition as they lend themselves so well to the aura and dynamic of the time…this is great work in my opinion Kenton and will not be surprised if I read an establishment that caters to the old west has come calling…regards and congrats on a splendid series
Hello, Richard! Wow, what an incredible compliment to receive! I am both honored and humbled by your remarks, observations and critique on these. I sincerely thank you more than can be said in a few words here. Best wishes to you and yours, my friend!

Corrrrrr! Blimey mate…this is brilliant. I reckon you would have been nervous though…that guy is pointing his gun in the wrong direction huh! lol. XXXXX
LOL…… just a quick click of the shutter and I was out of there!!!!!!!
These are some of the nicest people you could ever meet. If you have time, check their website at www.mojavemuleskinners.com There are a LOT of members, they’ve been in a bunch of different movies, and except for the fact that they’re the lowest, dirtiest, horse thievin’, bank robbin’, women chasin’, whiskey drinkin’, murderin’ scoundrels alive, they’re otherwise very nice blokes!
Thanks, mate, for your support!! :)

Have you put a calendar together with these images. I think it would be fantastic.
Hello, Pearl! Thank you very much. Actually, I’m in the process of putting one together and started the project yesterday. The whole team of these gunfighters is interested in calendars as well. I’ll drop you a note when I get it completed.
Thanks a million for your comments, my friend!!!!!

Kenton, I just had a look at the muleskinners’ website, and oh my goodness, they could sure use your many photographic talents there. After seeing the website images in full color and sepia, then looking at your fantastic processing…..well, I really can’t say enough about your work! I love the muted tones, it’s as if there is a fine layer of dust over everything, but it doesn’t obscure the many details. Their clothing looks sufficiently worn and dirty enough to be realistic….this whole series is an artistic treasure.
Wow…… what nice comments to receive, Chris! Thank you very much, I truly value that! Actually I do have some projects in the works with them, but to be fair, most of the photos on their site are just taken by their members to record different events, as a visual record. Again, I am flattered by your kind remarks and I’ll keep you posted on some of the projects. Best wishes to you and yours!!!!
