To all those who left me comments when this picture was up earlier, thank you very much! Sorry that I had to take it down and resize it…I only just realized that I put the one that didn’t adhere to the 2:3, 1:1, 3:4 up.
Again, thank you for all those who saw it and left comments!

Thank you all so much for taking the time to comment on my work! Hi Sarina! She’s pure vector! I did her up in Illustrator. :) I prefer to draw in Flash though if doing Vector work.

@ Sarina: You’re right, it does look like gouache. Vector is the term for the type of digital art that uses points, lines, curves etc. mathematically to represent images rather than pixels. There is no gradation of tone so as a result images tend to look flat as with gouache paintings. A faux gradation can be achieved with vector but each each tone has to a separate element. This can be done manually or by using software such as Flash or Adobe Streamline which can convert ‘raster’ (pixel) based images to vector.
There has been an explosion of ‘vector art’ in recent times which led to somewhat of a backlash to the clean and crisp effect of this type of art and subsequently a rise in the hand-drawn and ‘dirty ’ styles of graphic art. You now often see vector art used in conjunction with hand-drawn and/or aged or textured elements which does compliment each style.
Although there was a backlash there are still plenty of people who like this style of art; me included.
I hope this expands your understanding of vector art…
