Artist's Description

This is the clock tower of the Customs House, located in the financial district. The original building, authorized by President Andrew Jackson, was built in the mid 19th century, but the clock tower was added in the 1910s. It cost over $1million to building (in modern conversion). The tower, when added, made the height 496 feet, making it the tallest structure in the skyline, at the time. The clock itself, was the largest ever built, at the time.
