Divining With Gold
Ok so this one’s a bit wierd…but some of you seem to like that :)
I read a book in which the future could be told by feeding gold dust to animals, dissecting them and seeing where the gold collected in their viscera. It was a crap book but an interesting idea!
3 separate canvases – watercolour, chalk pastel, ink, conte, metallic leaf on canvas.

These guys are just fantastic. Mr Rat is my favourite, he looks like he could either be dead or in the middle of a wicked little dance.
Firedrake replied
Yeah it is a bit ‘Stayin’ Alive’!
Tania Donald
freaky and fascinating! : D
Damian
LOL, excellent :)
A bit messier than reading tea leaves though. Pets should watch out if they ever get gold sprinkles on their dinner :)
Firedrake replied
Hehe. Yeah the concept fascinated me! I was wondering, once they opened the animals, how they made sense of what they saw?

Wonderful image!!

The vacant eye of the duck is intriguing.

There’s gold in them thar gills…or crops…or boilers, whatever dragons have. Your passion for dragons is catching and i’m just wondering if you have one as a pet. Hope you didn’t disect him for these pictures.
Firedrake replied
If one died of natural causes I might :)

Very cool! But if the gold goes all the way through and comes out the other end, what does that tell us about the future?
Firedrake replied
I think it would tell us that we’re all just passing though, in the end!
Lesley Hill
So cool and weird idea! I love it!!!
Donna Huntriss
Very weird but I love it! I think you really should put a book together and get it published! You are very talented.
Marie Magnusson
ooh, there is nothing like a bit of viscera to start off the week, wonderful work.
LOL at Signes comment!! guess it means we’re all going down the drain!
Paul Louis Vil...
The concept in your description blows me away!
Hmmmm, makes reading tea leaves look very placid! ;p
Wonderful work mate!

Jessica Tremp

Make a good ‘Congratulations on your favourable prognosis’ card:) – Fantastic!
Firedrake replied
HAHA for someone with kidney stones?
fesseldreg
Yes, or a twisted bowel perhaps!
Firedrake replied
Sort of like “Every twisted bowel has a golden lining”...haha, I reckon we submit it to John Sands. They’d be crazy to refuse. Crazy I tell ya!
fesseldreg
Right !- the possibilities are endless – For your pet fish – ‘There’s gold in them there gills! ‘
Firedrake replied
Brings new meaning to the term ‘heart of gold’!
