This one was a dream. I walked down a hill among trees, and when I looked up I saw hundreds of little crocodile things, tied up by their noses. I was thinking abut whether they were asleep or dead. I have a few more of these wee beasties, will upload at some point
Thanks everyone. It’s a fairly early piece, on paper. I’ve migrated to canvas now. To those of you who said ‘yum’...you sick people. Hehe. No, he does look like a bit of a plump christmas dinner. Little fatty! Gordon Tant – I had that book! Who was Dahl’s illustrator..Quentin someone…I loved him. Pal Gyomai – I checked it out. The artwork looks like a ‘Yes’ album! Pretty cool elephant/dragonfly thingo…if he were to glide into my bestiary, I probably wouldn’t chase him out with a broom.
the concept is so cute!!! i can just imagine it too, infinite amt of em strapped up to tree branches it makes me giggle lol =D i c it as sleeping kekeke
really like this one, great colour, it looks like his snout is splinted due to a break or something, i hope he is not dead, he could have passed out from the pain. Quentin Blake is Dahl’s illustrator.
He’s on a journey and it is the only way he can be transported because being probably a baby dragon he still likes to bite. Definitely not food matter. Dragons never get eaten..and he’s definitely not dead maybe stunned with some herbal concoction by the wise old woman :-) who is carrying him to a far sfaer place where he can keep on being a dragon…..The end or the beginning…
it makes me wonder.. quite a few of your pieces have the characters with their mouth tied up.. has it got anything to do with your feelings? just curious~ =)

Nice detail. Is he a dragon or croc? His teeth look croc-ish but the rest of him could equally be dragon. Perhaps a hybrid. I love your work.
Firedrake, 10 months ago
Well…I named it ‘Dragon’ but I’m not really sure myself! It does look very croc-like. Possibly a fat baby crocodile?

Very cool, Firedrake. Your style reminds me of the cover of the Osibisa album called “Woyaya”. (Traditional African music mixed with jazz/rock, 1971)

Your gallery is so unique. You are an extraordinary artist. and I can see your personal style in everything you do.
I also appreciate your quick wit – is he sleeping or is he dead? I hope he is sleeping and escapes his fate to appear in many more adventures.
Firedrake in reply to chasingsooz’s comment, about 1 month ago
Thanks! The jury’s out on whether he’s sleeping or dead :)
