Noice work. You have a lovely style.
Firedrake
Thanks! I like your stuff too. Ever seen stuff by Polish painter Beksinski? One of my favourite artists. Your style reminds me of him

What a fabulous collection of illustrations you have, this one is my favourite so far.
Firedrake

They will be fore sale and there are many more, just have to get around to it, same ole thing…having a solo show in Melb in 2 months frantically getting ready for it

HA ! Is that cos you were looking at Ange’s Led Zep blog ?!
Firedrake
Yep! I searched ‘led zeppelin’.. was hoping someone had done a portrait of Jimmy Page or something..came across the blog. MOST of my art was done while listening to Led Zep :) Hey..maybe I should do a portrait of jimmy page…no, wait, he’d end up with goggles or feathers or something
Damian
Wow, bizarre creature! Love the teeth behind the beak mask.
Firedrake
Thanks! I feel I should explain… my beakfaces are lizard-like creatures that wish they were birds. They try really hard to be birds, but never will be…

- where/when is the show going to be? I’d love to see these ‘in the flesh’! Really like the narrative you’re building up -a whole alternative world and cosmologyFiredrake
Thanks everyone! My show will be in early November, at the Brunswick Street Gallery. Just a small room for me, as it’s my first solo one. I’ll post something in the what’s on forum, it would be cool if anyone in the area could pop in. Nice to meet some RBers in the flesh!

Another really clever artwork from … FIREDRAKE! I love how you have some litte surprises hiding in your artworks and again, the simplicity of your backgrounds set off your work beautifully.

Wots under the beak if its held on by elastic?
Firedrake
Thank you everyone.
Yes my backgrounds are quite bleak. I often think about putting something there and then think…naaah.
PeterJames and LostBoy – NO ONE may see the beakface un-beaked. Not even me! I once started drawing a beakface without the beak…and then I ripped it up in fear!!

Firedrake: Brilliant use of yellow. Great sweeping downward movement. Great job.
