Dear Firedrake, thanks for your recent comment on my work, just love this piece BTW. The red and the purple make my heart beat faster!~ I was unable to attend the Small Works Exhibition as I was busy in Sydney so good to know my piece was in a good position.

MimiDesigns – you thought only pigs wore these? Where are these pigs of which you speak? I shall seek them…

To those who asked about the medium – it’s watercolour first, a layer of graphic pen lines and detail, then chalk pastel and conte, another layer of pen lines, then streaks of white and splatters of black, then I spray it with matt spray and add leaf or metallic pigments. All the paintings in my folio are done this way. Actually this dude doesn’t have metallics (I don’t think?) but some of my others do. I work nowadays mostly on canvas but still use paper here and there.

The goggles seem just the right attire for this feathered friend. An imaginative illustration.

I am looking for original and great birds and yours is one of them. I am looking for them because me and a friend have a group colours outside the lines and we have each month a new theme for illustrations. Just to look how someone else thinks or draws in this theme.
