Goldfish
I got sick of beakfaces and lizards momentarily and decided to paint some fishies – literally, goldfish…I’ve applied patches of gold leaf to their little heads.
Despite being distracted by Eurovision I managed to finish it this weekend!!
This one will probably be at Brunswick St Gallery in their small works show, June 6th.
About 20×20cm, watercolour, chalk pastel etc on canvas.
These enlargements are bigger than life size:

this is one of my favorite ones out of your piecess.. i love them all but i am very intuned with fishes.. how did you apply the gold foil??

I’m sorry, I missed this question!
You can buy special leafing adhesive or just use pva glue, you paint a layer of glue and let it dry until it’s tacky (maybe an hour) then just place the flakes and push them down. The glue goes down after varnishing the paint and pastel, then you need second layer of varnish after the leaf :)
