This silk painting was a freely interpreted version of an image sent to me as a commission, inspired by the enso.
A beautiful meditation in motion this was a hugely relaxing piece to create.
The open circle is called an enso and it was said that Zen masters used to draw one of these for their students to sit and meditate on. There are two versions. The first one closed and this represents the wholeness and totality of things. And the second one, the open circle, represents the imperfections that we perceive and urges the student to accept everything exactly the way the it is.
This enso was created on silk satin with gold resist and embellishments.
And it seemed too much of a shame not to share this one around, so thanks to Anette’s suggestion, it is now becoming part of my portfolio here.
A beautiful image to still the mind.
