I was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1961. Over the years I have lived and worked in a number of locations in the UK, and currently reside in North Yorkshire.
Until recently I pursued a career in IT, escaping whenever possible to the hills of the UK and the world’s greater mountain ranges. The photo on my profile was taken in a tent while trekking in the Langtang valley Nepal.
My photography reflects my passion for the outdoors, wild places and mountains in particular. I’ve been fortunate to have my images published in national newspapers, magazines and books around the world.
When I first became interested in photography, digital equipment was unheard of; even autofocus SLR cameras were just starting to appear. My first serious camera was a Pentax ME-Super, followed by a succession of Nikon SLRs. I now work either with a Canon 1Ds MKII or an Ebony 45s 5×4 field camera, depending on how far I need to carry my gear!
I shoot Fuji quickload film when using the Ebony, these are then scanned using an Imacon virtual drum scanner.
I sell prints online from my website www.chrisjoint.com, and at exhibitions.
Thanks for looking and happy shooting.
