I have a pair of lollypop shoes
They fit on my feet like that.
Like that and like this they dance me around
brightening the day from below.
I see them and smile, my magical shoes
I close my eyes and click my heels – they whisk me away
to place that is not here
a place that is not there
Nobody sees me, nobody knows.
I sit down to admire my shoes
snacking on Twisties while I contemplate this magic
I can see the reflection of my shoes mirrored on the sea.
Calmly bobbing just hither and fro
until a peaceful yacht leaves its mark right through them
but my lollypop shoes stay shiny and red
as thoughts of sugarplums dance through my head
I read a story once or twice about lollypop shoes like mine
Always owned by girls, with lovely long hair
smooth curves and sparkling fingers
Sand under their toes and soda water on their lips
Now, I imagine I am one of those girls
My toes tap together in my shiny red shoes
They join in with a tune known by me but not many
As the tapping grows louder it is joined by a chorus
my shoes and I, we dance and we dance
we pirouette and we arabesque, we leap and we glide
until I tap them together again
abruptly..
and my lollypop shoes and I are transported
back to my reality, back to our humanity
with a whirl and a snap, tick click whirrrrr~ stop
But I know, evertime time I see that little flash of red
that I have a pair of magical lollypop shoes
shining up from my feet below.
