Irish Blessing

Posted over 4 years ago

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you:
May you see your children’s children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

May the ro…

“Daffodils” (1804)

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the Milky Way,

They stretch’d in never-ending line

Along the margin of a bay:

MEETING SISTER CANCER

Posted over 4 years ago

The word cancer instills fear into most people. They just do not want to hear about it. It is a bad word in the English language. And at the same time, we are told that one in three of us are likely to get cancer. So why the awful fear? I suppose it has something to do with death and dying. And this is not surprising. As a comedian once said, “I don’t mind dying, 1 just don’t wa…

POSITIVE THINKING

POSITIVE THINKING
Positive thinking improves how we feel. It lessens feelings of depression and anxiety and helps us to look at things in a realistic light. Practising positive thinking is a vital part of getting better.
1. Based on good evidence
2. Do not predict the future
3. Put things into perspective
4. Help us to succeed
Cue cards can be carried around as reminders. Negative thought…

Questions for Challenging Anxious Thoughts

Posted over 4 years ago

When you are bothered by anxious thoughts and fears look down this list of questions and ask yourself each one in turn. When we are worrying we are usually not seeing things as they really are. By investigating the accuracy of our thoughts we can see that there is often a more realistic way of thinking.

1. What evidence do I have to support my thoughts?
What evidence do I have against them?

2…

Zapiro, don’t

I refer to your cartoon in the
edition of June 14 labelled
“Assorted religious nuts”.
Usually I enjoy the cartoons as they can be very
clever and incisive.

But this one is neither clever nor incisive.
In particular, I refer to the
“Teenager who sees visions of
the Virgin Mary , and her hangers-on”.
Given that th…

School of Fraud

Professor Nessan J. Ronan

Roger Kaunda lived life in the fast lane. Tall and imposing, he had a well-deserved reputation for being a ladies’ man. Roger was about 35-years-old when I met him. He had a degree in public administration and worked as an administrative officer for the specialized accountancy college in the South African country of Lesotho. Before working there, he was a…
