Artist's Description

Bush lawyer or tātarāmoa (Rubus schmidelioides) is a vine often encountered in New Zealand’s native beech forests and is to be avoided at all costs. It has tiny barbs running the full length of each creeper and once you become entangled it is very difficult to break free. Usually the vines rely on other plants for support but this one, which took up residence in my garden when I wasn’t looking, is obviously intent on world domination.
