uhm, I think this is what we call “elfenbankje” in Belgium …. litteraly that is translated to “seat for elves” ... I don’t know how it’s called in English… but if it is this mushroom indeed than we call it “elfenbankje”....

okay.. so you got me really motivated to get to know this mushroom in it’s English name..
    and … I’ve discovered something:

In Latin it can have these names: Trametes versicolor , Coriolus versicolor , Polyporus versicolor.
It grows on trees and branches of trees
    It usually grows in groups
and it actually helps nature with cleaning up of fallen leaves and so on..
But what I discovered moreso is the English term:
TURKEY TAILS (juk, I don’t like that name one bit…)
So I like the “seat for elves” much much better :)

did you know that the reason we call it “seat for elves” or “elfenbankje” in Belgium? it is because it looks like a seat… and nothing is small and elegant enough to take place on them than an elve? :) hence the name “elfenbankje”...
if you type in that name in Google; you should get examples and of course lots of text, but all in Dutch….
    HOpe this helpes :)
