Fragments of Richness: An Indian Expose - uniformity by

A collection of my best portrait and landscape shots from India.

The enormity and complexity of India’s layered existence can not be conveyed in the narrowness of a single photo. However, photos can provide a great visual spectacle and maybe spark a curiosity for this absorbing and thrilling country.

The Ghats, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh – a brilliant, fixating, and overwhelming kaleidoscope of life unfolds on the Ghats in Varanasi

This is a bloody outstanding image! None of the facile Western “Ew, look, the ghats, they burn people in public!” This talks of the Ghats as part of ordinary life, not some sort of sideshow to fleetingly fill the void of empty lives.

Thanks Col. You are spot on. As compelling as the burning ghats are for most people unused to real cultural diversity, its the openness of everyday life which is amazing there. i personally felt very welcomed by the locals also, which made it all the more captivating.
