This week, we asked PigleT to do the featured page. This what he had to say about his choices of Recent and Favorited work:
Wow, selecting a mere 10 photos here has been a learning exercise. My normal photographic tastes fall into three categories: nature and landscapes (helps to be based in Scotland!), creative abstracts, and photos with implicit pointed political messages; sometimes a combination of these is possible. I respond most to harmoniously balanced compositions and things that make me think.
That said, the theme I’ve chosen for these is mostly light itself: both as revealed in all its glory, and in more subtle applications befitting the little electro-magnetic oscillations by which we see.
Herewith:
Writting:
Crows for being a simple haiku, yet conjuring up great imagery
From recent additions:
Rose: for the high-key approach and angled light on a simple rose
Steam for the atmospheric light in steam
Taking Flight for the patterns of light on soft flowers
Green for soft light working with the soft colours and water droplets
St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the use of light with architecture
Fire Sky for the eye’s reaction to nature’s reds and orange shades
From my favorites:
Blending Light for its subtle illumination and gentle tones
Earth’s Shadow for practical optics on the scale of the solar system, yet so gentle you’d almost miss it if you didn’t know
Lightning over Jackson for a dramatic reminder of the energy involved in nature’s light
Tilt for the patterns light forms, revealing textures in objects around us day by day
hedgehog a bonus oddball choice because it’s a beautiful, if odd-ball, creature. I’m unashamedly crazy about hedgehogs!
