I’ve wanted to visit this location for a long time. The weather report showed possibly favorable conditions for sunset last saturday so I hit the road on the roughly 2-hour each way journey around the bay to Batesford, just outside of Geelong. The GPS on my phone only sent me the wrong way once, which is good.
I arrived to find a couple had beaten me there, snapping away wildly at the famous lone tree, which is a photographic icon in these parts. I snapped a few myself, but none seem to do the place justice, so I wandered among the granite outcrops while the sun set.
